Just in Case...
The Endless Worry about Safety and Security

Just in case…
How many times a day do you say “just in case” to yourself?
How does one stop being afraid and preparing for the worst?
Because you never really can anyway…
I admit. I am a little hyper-focused on safety and security.
Ok. I check my locks, but I need to… just in case.
I make sure I have everything I could possibly need for an emergency in my purse. (So I can’t really carry a small purse – I know.)
You have no idea how many phone, earpods, etc, chargers I have in my purse. Just in case…
Almost daily I look for what danger lurks around every corner and play out the worst-case scenario.
It’s exhausting and I am missing so much of life worrying and preparing for things that just never happen.
Then I found the Enneagram and realized that this is a key trait of an Enneagram Six – hyper-vigilant, laser-focused on danger, and anxious to say the least.
Studying the Enneagram, I found faith and hope that I would be prepared for whatever came my way and found the ability to let the rest go… and when an unexpected tragedy happened to me for which I was totally unprepared, I made it through it using what I learned from the Enneagram (and of course, a lot of great friends.)
I found I knew what to do without preparing for it in advance, and I gained faith that I could handle what life would throw at me.
Because as we all know, Enneagram Six or not, there is nothing we can do to prepare for everything, so we might as well enjoy the present and not always be focused on the future.
Working with my Enneagram coach, I learned to relax that anxious muscle and develop faith and a reasonable plan for the future.
I can enjoy life more daily and still be prepared for situations within my control. The Enneagram provides a clear path to healthier, more life-giving patterns.
So… is “just in case” your mantra too?
If so, let’s talk about it and get you on a better parth. CLICK HERE to get started.
