- Why do I keep doing this?
Why do I keep doing this?
I said I'd stop. I meant it. Then... I did it again.

“Why do I keep doing this?”
You said you’d stop.
You meant it.
And somehow… you ended up right back there again.
It’s frustrating. It’s confusing. And if you’re honest, it can feel a little defeating.
Because this isn’t just a one-time thing.
It’s a pattern.
A reaction you fall into under pressure.
A dynamic that keeps showing up in your relationships.
A version of yourself you don’t fully recognize, but can’t seem to change.
You’ve tried willpower.
You’ve tried thinking your way out of it.
You’ve probably even read about it.
And yet… nothing really sticks.
That’s because the problem isn’t the behavior.
It’s the fear underneath it.
Until you see that fear clearly, the pattern will keep repeating… no matter how hard you try to stop it.
This is where the Enneagram becomes different from everything else you’ve tried.
It doesn’t just describe what you do. It reveals why you do it. Specifically, the core fear quietly driving your reactions, decisions, and relationships.
And real change? It only starts there.
Last month, I invited you to pause before slipping into your usual pattern… to get curious instead of reactive.
Because in that pause, something important happens: You start to hear what’s actually underneath.
Not just “What should I do?”
But “What am I afraid of right now?”
Below are the nine core fears connected to each Enneagram type.
Don’t rush this.
Read slowly… and notice which one makes you stop… not because it sounds good, but because it feels a little too true:
1: The Reformer
Fear of being wrong or fundamentally bad
2: The Helper
Fear of being unloved or unwanted for who you truly are
3: The Achiever
Fear of being worthless or failing to measure up
4: The Individualist
Fear of having no identity or personal significance
5: The Investigator
Fear of being helpless, incompetent, or overwhelmed
6: The Loyalist
Fear of being without support, guidance, or security
7: The Enthusiast
Fear of being trapped in pain or deprivation
8: The Challenger
Fear of being controlled, harmed, or at the mercy of others
9: The Peacemaker
Fear of conflict, disconnection, or loss of inner peace
Here’s the truth most people miss:
Recognizing yourself in one of these is powerful… but it’s only the beginning.
Because awareness alone doesn’t break the pattern.
You can know your fear AND still feel stuck in it.
What actually creates change is learning how that fear shows up in your specific life… in your relationships, your decisions, your stress responses… and what to do with it in real time.
That’s not something you figure out in a list.
That’s the work we do together.
If you’re tired of repeating the same patterns and are ready to understand what’s really driving them, take your next step.
THIS MONTH’S SELF-REFLECTION
Which number made you pause?
Not because it was flattering…
But because it felt true.
That pause?
That’s where everything starts.
Book a consultation and we’ll uncover the fear underneath your patterns AND will map out what it actually looks like to move through it, not just around it, with clarity and confidence.
